Statement to customers about why we survey

At the end of each program, before we hand out Project Outcome surveys, we do a verbal reminder of why it’s so important to complete a survey. Right now we’re lobbying for a larger building to replace our outdated and too small branch in the county seat. I ask staff to read this before customers leave:
“Your opinion is so important to us. We really do use what you tell us - in fact, you may be contacted by our program coordinator if you ask questions or make suggestions. We need your feedback to show our community how important your library is. It’ll help us get a new, bigger La Plata branch with plenty of parking! Please take a minute to let us know how we’re doing.”
Showing our customers how their evaluation will make a difference has really helped with our survey return rate.
